“Confident to face the world”: Rachel's Story

Graduation is still months away, but third-year students like Rachel are already preparing for life beyond campus.

Rachel joined Neema as a single mother of two. Over the last two years, she has learned to make peace with herself and cherish her children. Now in her final year, she divides her time between studying for advanced certifications and an internship in a local restaurant.

Customer service and financial training grow her confidence. Counselors lead workshops about the future: managing greater freedom, building healthy relationships, and making wise decisions. She is also meeting with alumnae to learn from them; and with help from her family, she is saving for catering equipment to launch a small business. Her future is no longer limited by the hardships she faced.

“I have learnt a lot on my attachment from serving customers, cooking and the way I present myself. I have really gained confidence…What once felt like an endless burden has given way to an overwhelming sense of hope.”
-Rachel
