Live Auction Items
Thanks to all who generously donated these auction items!
Handwoven Sisal Bags
These bags are handmade from sisal fiber in Kenya and finished with tough leather handles and carved wood for closure. The striped patterns are made by combining sisal with blended wool. Making sisal baskets is a slow process: after removing the bark from the spiky sisal leaves, the fibers are then twined, dyed twice, and dried.
Each weave is made with great care. It takes between two and three weeks to complete a bag and is traditionally crafted by elderly women. Occasionally a little bump in the sisal or a knot can be seen. This will not affect the purse’s durability, and it only adds to the charm of the craft.

The Neema Team, Neema Board, and Volunteers
Featured Graduate: Florence
Because of your investment in the hopes and dreams of the students at Neema, young women like Florence have opportunities they never could have imagined. In our testimonial video this evening, you'll see just how much Florence and her family's lives has been transformed!
"Neema changed my story. I can't hide my happiness. I now have hope that I did not have before."
About Neema
Equipping young women to build futures rooted in dignity and hope.
The Need
Young women in rural Kenya navigate serious challenges that limit their ability to envision a brighter future.
41% of women and girls aged 15 to 49 in the county Neema is in have experienced physical violence and 13% have experienced sexual violence. (KNBS)
38% of women with no education had a teen pregnancy in Kenya compared to 5% of women with more than secondary education. (KNBS)
Less than 25% of women in rural Kenya who went to school completed high school. (KNBS)
Get Involved at Neema
Give Monthly
A young woman’s transformation doesn’t happen in isolation. Her future is shaped by the family and community she returns to, and the support systems — or lack of them — that surround her every day.
That’s why Neema invests beyond campus. The Neema Collective funds the work that holds transformation in place: counseling for families, coaching for graduates, outreach to local schools, and partnerships with churches. Together, these programs extend the reach of hope. Your recurring gift makes this possible — month after month, year after year.
Becoming a Grace Partner is your personal connection to empowering a Neema young woman to thrive. Grace Partners make transformation possible by providing education, counseling, discipleship, childcare, and daily necessities.
We invite you to walk with a young woman throughout her full three-year journey at Neema. Your monthly investment provides everything a student needs to live, learn, and thrive — including regular letter writing as a means of building a real relationship with the young woman you sponsor.
At Neema, young women move beyond the weight of their past — healing from painful experiences, growing in faith, building life skills and earning certifications to find dignified work and transform their futures.
