Meet women empowering the next generation this International Women's Day

For International Women's Day, we'd like to introduce you to one of our alumni, one of our staff members, and one of our student's grandmothers. Each of these women has overcome countless hurdles in rural Kenya to provide for her children, bettering their lives to give them opportunities she didn't have.

Benta
Meet Benta, a Neema 2018 Graduate

Since graduating, Benta has been able to develop her own business and is sending her two children to school in addition to supporting her mother.

Watch Benta share her story.

Jentrix
Meet Jentrix, our Residential Department Director

Jentrix has been working with Neema since 2018. Although she's a widow, her current salary enables her to send her five children to school. Jentrix's life is a testament to the fact that for each person at Neema, eight other individuals, on average, are impacted.

Rosemary
Meet Rosemary, grandmother of third-year our student, Brenda

Rosemary has seven children, but has been the caretaker of Brenda and three other grandchildren for their whole lives. She says, "Being the sole breadwinner in my family, life has not been easy. I've struggled a lot to raise my children and grandchildren. [But] I'm really grateful to God that despite the numerous challenges I've gone through, I'm still soldiering on."
